Listening, then acting: what HCA delivered for care providers this year

Your membership at work

At Hampshire Care Association, we don't guess what care providers need. We ask, and then we act on what you tell us.

Earlier this year, providers across Hampshire, Southampton and Portsmouth told us their top priority was keeping or improving their CQC rating. They also told us they needed affordable training and expert advice they could rely on.

Here's what we delivered.

Closer contact with CQC. We built on our CQC Pulse events, bringing local inspectors to meet providers. Providers get clear answers on what inspectors are looking for, straight from the people doing the inspections.

Oliver McGowan training providers can afford. Oliver McGowan training was putting a financial strain on many services, so we piloted it in Portsmouth. The pilot programme means quality-assured training is accessible, affordable and local.

Free leadership training for members. Through our new partnership with the Institute of Health and Social Care Management (IHSCM), members can access free management and leadership training.

Advice when you need it. Our new Provider Support Service, free for members, helps providers find the right answer quickly, without hours spent searching.

"Providers told us clearly what they needed: practical help with CQC, affordable training and someone to turn to for advice. Every one of these services came from what our members told us. That's how HCA works."

Emma Heath, Chief Executive, Hampshire Care Association

Why it matters

For around 40 years, HCA has represented adult social care providers across Hampshire, Southampton and Portsmouth. Today we support more than 400 members running over 300 services. When members speak, we act, and the more providers who join, the stronger that voice becomes.
