Overview
Recognise, respond to, and support victims/survivors of domestic abuse who have a disability and/or a life-limiting illness
Please Note: This event is being held only for those based in Hampshire or working with Hampshire residents.
This course will give participants the knowledge and confidence to recognise, respond to, and support victims/survivors of domestic abuse who have a disability and/or a life-limiting illness. It explores how abuse presents in these contexts, the additional barriers to disclosure and safety, and the heightened risks created by dependency, care needs, and health vulnerability. Participants will be introduced to the DALLI (Domestic Abuse and Life-Limiting Illness) Toolkit as a practical framework to guide safe identification, trauma-informed responses, risk assessment, and appropriate referral pathways.
Recognise indicators and patterns of domestic abuse affecting people with disabilities and/or life-limiting illness.
Understand how illness, impairment, and care dependency can be exploited as methods of control and abuse
Identify barriers to disclosure and access to support for victims/survivors in these groups
Apply the DALLI Toolkit to support safe conversations, risk identification, and appropriate responses
